Character Development and Leadership Program
The Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) is a program given to high school students; teaching them leadership, the value of education, student achievement, diversity and becoming a better citizen. While working on cadet's self esteem, professional skills and discovering their 'true colors,' we focus on JROTC's mission statement, "...motivate young people to become better citizens". JROTC's disciplined environment produces a successful student and a great outstanding citizen. With Campbell High School's support, JROTC has many positive outcomes with students. Drop out percentages are significantly lower; while GPA, graduation rate, and attendance have improved. JROTC does not have any intention to recruit any students off into the military. Everyone's future plans are equally important; if a military future is ever considered by the student, many resources and opportunities will be available.
Spartan Battalion
General Order No. 31, from the Department of the Army Headquarters, was given on 25 July 1972. Effective 1 July 1972- High School Junior ROTC units were established at Campbell High School in Smyrna, Georgia.
The Army JROTC at Campbell High School was first established on 1 July 1972 at 3295 South Atlanta Street, Smyrna Georgia, 30080; where Campbell Middle School is currently located. On July 1989, Wills High School and Campbell High school merged together; both schools agreed on the name, "Smyrna High School." At this time, the colors of Royal Blue and Silver, and the Spartan mascot, were adopted. In 1990, the courts overruled the name change of the school due to restrictions of the family that owned the land, the Campbell family. This resulted in Smyrna High School's name converting to Campbell High School. In 1997, the school was relocated to the original site of Wills High School because of the rapid and unexpected growth. We, the Campbell High School JROTC, are the Spartan Battalion!
